Welcome to the Meiji Jingu Gaien Junior Ice Hockey Club

The Jingu Jr. Club is a part of the Tokyo Ice Hockey Federation and participates in the Tokyo Junior Ice Hockey League. The club operates four teams: Grades K-3, 4-6, 7-9 (middle school), and 10-12 (high school), based on the Japanese school system.

The league features teams such as the Seibu White Bears, Edogawa Armors, Higashi Yamato Jr., Citizen Jr., Indians Tokyo West and the Mandai Jr.

The Jingu Jr. Club currently has space available for all the age groups mentioned above and has English speaking coaches. We also have a number of foreign nationals playing on the Jingu Jr. teams.

We welcome a free practice and observation. See the JOIN section of this site for details.

If you need the further information about the Jingu Jr. Club, please feel free to e-mail us in English or Japanese.

There are 2 steps to joining the Jingu Hockey team.

1) Trial Practice

If you are interested in having your child participate in a trial practice, please contact the team with the following information:

1)        Name

2)        Gender

3)        Age/Grade

4)        Date your child would like to tryout

5)        Skating/hockey experience

6)        Need to borrow any equipment

7)        How you found out about Jingu (friend, website etc.)

8)        Any other questions or information you think we may need about your child

Please give more than a week’s notice for we must receive permission from the coaches before any new children go out on the ice.

Occasionally, due to lack of skating ability, a child may be asked to leave the practice early.

We can loan out skates, hockey equipment and sticks for the trial but you must bring your own underwear (long sleeve, long underwear and socks) to wear under the equipment.

Jingu cannot be responsible for any injury during the trial practice.

After the trial practice, the staff will decide whether your child will be able to join.  All players 5th grade or older, must have had hockey experience.

2) Registration

After your child’s skating abilities have been checked by a member of the staff and you decide to join the team, you must fill out the registration form which is on the website.
